Arjun searched his school bag three times, but his homework notebook was still missing. His class teacher, Mrs. Rao, always checked notebooks first thing in the morning, and Arjun's hands felt cold with worry. He remembered that he had left his bag open near the park bench the evening before while playing cricket with his friends. During recess, Arjun ran to the park instead of eating his snack. Under the very same bench, half hidden by fallen leaves, lay his notebook. He picked it up, brushed off the dust, and hugged it like a lost treasure. When he reached class, Mrs. Rao smiled and said she was glad he had been honest about being late instead of hiding it. Arjun promised himself he would always zip his bag shut from then on.
