A hare once laughed at a tortoise for being slow. The tortoise challenged the hare to a race. The hare ran far ahead and, feeling sure of winning, decided to rest under a tree. He fell fast asleep. The tortoise kept walking steadily, step by step, without stopping. By the time the hare woke up, the tortoise had already crossed the finish line. The hare had lost the race because of his own carelessness.
